About the Artist
I was born and grew up in Oslo, Norway. My family is still there, and my ties to that country are still strong. After finishing Gymnasium, I came to America to continue my studies in Boston, Massachusetts, where I lived for eight years, before moving to Rochester, New York.
Having always had a keen interest in fiber arts, I learned weaving and fiber design as part of my BS studies. At the same time, experimentation with xerography became the path towards printmaking and finally, the digital influence.
I have been fortunate to have had great mentors in my life, first and foremost, my husband John. Numerous internships and workshops have also enhanced my skills and helped me stay at least somewhat current in the explosion of technologies having taken place during the last few years.
Workshops with Dan Welden, Ron Pokrasso and Keith Howard have provided me a new outlook on printmaking, where the computer has become a welcome tool.
Traveling has always presented a rich source of material for artistic treatment and inspiration. I still go to Norway twice a year, with other destinations in between, the latest this year, to Greenland.
